When it comes to public relations training, nothing beats an internship. That’s because, while there are a few techniques that cross industries, much of what you’re doing will be sector-specific. The image an e-commerce site needs to project is wholly different than a not-for-profit, and as a PR professional, you’ll need to be able to tailor your approach to the client. In fact, it’s a red flag for me when a PR firm doesn’t vary their process. So, niche down, decide what sector you’d like to focus on, then search for a mentor in that realm.
