I think I would always go with ProWritingAid when I’m looking for a writing aid tool. Unlike Grammarly, which tends to be better for shorter pieces, I find that ProWritingAid excels when it comes to longer works, such as longer blog posts. It can catch mistakes that I may have missed during my proofreading process and I appreciate the feedback options that it provides along with each suggestion. Overall, I would definitely recommend ProWritingAid if you are someone who works with longer pieces of written work!

I’m using Grammarly for all my business needs and have been doing so for a long time. It’s convenient and practical, but also slightly faster than ProWritingAid, at least from my own experience. However, I’d like to point out one important thing here, and that’s branding. Grammarly is the perfect example of a service that relies on a simple, yet catchy naming convention, which is key to brand awareness.
When I first heard of ProWritingAid, I had to reread the name to fully grasp it, and I’ve never really grown accustomed to it. While I honestly believe that there are only minor differences between the two and that both services do their job splendidly, I do think that ProWritingAid could do with a bit of a rebrand.

Although the premium version of ProWritingAid does provide better components, the free version lacks the features you need. In short, if you’re looking for a free version, Grammarly wins by a mile! Most of what you need in a spell and grammar checker is already in the free version of Grammarly.
You don’t need to pay for a premium unless you need an in-depth analysis of your writing. Plus, it’s so easy to use compared to ProWritingAid. This is what I like the most about Grammarly. You don’t need to train intensely to fully understand what you need to do to check your work. This is what an excellent grammar checker should be all about!
